Why Your Stove Burner Won’t Heat
Your stove is probably one of the most important items in your household. If your stove burner won’t heat, there are a number of possible culprits. With a professional technician, you can eliminate every possible cause, until you figure out exactly why the burner isn’t heating up as you need it to.
Figuring out the issue on your end can be challenging. You have to contend with various wires, the terminal block, heating elements, heating coils, and so much more. At HandiFix Appliance Repair, we can take a look at all of these things, in order to determine what is going on with the burner.
An Electrical Short
Plug-in burners are capable of collecting not only grease from the receptable that works as the source of power, but also tons of moisture. With these two elements clogging things up, it is almost inevitable that you’re going to be dealing with an electrical short at some point.
At first, an occasional electrical short isn’t really a big deal. However, this problem can quickly escalate, with the element burning out eventually.
The Element Has Burned Out
If an actual element has burned out, relax. If the burner isn’t heating up, it might be that the component responsible for the element has become burned out or damaged. There could be breaks or simple blistering along the coils. If this is the case, it’s a good idea to make repairs or replacements as soon as possible.
The Surface Element Switch
When the stove burner won’t heat, it could be that the surface element switch has become defective in some form or fashion. This part of the stove is responsible for regulating the amount of voltage that is going to pass through the coils. It is imperative that this process of cycling and regulation occur throughout the entire heating up process. If the switch has become defective, it can prove to be to difficult, if not impossible, to get the element to get warm at all.
